09 August - Devils Trust statement

The board of the Devils Trust wishes to place on record its vote of no confidence in the Majeed family as owners of Crawley Town Football Club.

The six-point penalty imposed by the board of the Blue Square Premier takes the total number of points deducted in just over 16 months to 19.

Yet again this serious sanction from the league confirms the inability or unwillingness of the current owners to run the club in manner satisfactory to the football authorities.

Fans who care for the club can no longer tolerate its status and existence being placed in serious jeopardy.

The Trust board is now of the view that the current owners have neither the ability nor the inclination to operate the club as the Trust believes it should – as a financially secure, family-oriented, community-based football club accountable to its fans.

It is the Trust's belief that the time has now come for the current owners to step aside and consider any approach from competent and reputable sources to purchase the club.

Our members and all supporters of Crawley Town FC have endured two years of anguish over the mismanagement and financial failings of the Majeeds, and still there has been no word of apology, no admittance of blame and no appreciation of the creditors, whose goodwill has enabled the club to survive.

We wish to place on record our tremendous appreciation of the creditors for their patience and sacrifice and hope that their suffering will soon be over and that fans can look forward to a brighter future.
