11th July - Fans urged to show solidarity

Crawley Town's Supporters Trust are calling on fans to boycott home matches as they bid to step up the pressure on the Majeed brothers to leave the club.

The move follows several recent incidents of intimidation and yet more unsavoury episodes involving CTFC owners Chas and Azwar Majeed.

Speaking on behalf of the trust board, Antony Weller said: "Since the vote was given to establish the Trust in May, the committee have been very conscious of not inflaming the situation any further. However with the Majeeds seemingly not knowing the difference between right and wrong the time for trying to construct a working relationship with them is over.

"Their recent treatment of a young supporter shows the complete contempt in which they hold the fan base.

"In 12 months the Majeeds have helped destroy the essence of the club, but they will not break the fans' spirit and pride."

The Trust are also calling on supporters to boycott all Majeed-run establishments. This includes the bars and restaurants they own in the High Street, including the Ja Ja Bar and restaurants Cubana and Lusso, in addition to the Redz bar at Broadfield Stadium.

The Trust also believes the boycott should encompass the club's HOME pre-season friendlies, starting with the opening game against Millwall on Saturday (July 15).

Mr Weller said: "We believe giving them any sort of support financially is only helping to help prop up a regime that has proved itself unfit to be involved in a football club or any other business. We ask all supporters to join us at the ground but refuse to go through the turnstiles.

"We understand the dilemma this places supporters in. They are desperate to show their support of the players and the Trust will work to ensure the players that wear the Crawley Town shirt will know how much support they have from us.

"If they choose not to go we would encourage them to donate the entrance money to the Trust. The Trust will then use the money for the good of the Football Club and its supporters once the Majeeds have relinquished control of the football club we all love."

The Trust encourages all fans to turn up to pre-season away games and show the level of affection there is towards the players.
