11th September - Legends to turn out for Devils Trust launch

Stars of Crawley Town teams of the past will be on parade for a football match to mark the official launch of the Devils Trust.

The Trust's Crawley Town Legends side will take on a team representing the Nomad Online Sussex football website at Oakwood FC, Tinsley Lane, Crawley, on Sunday, October 15, with a 2pm kick-off.

Former Red Devils favourites who are supporting the Trust include Danny Carroll, Mark Ford and Viv Jeffery. They will be wearing a specially commissioned Devils Trust kit, sponsored by Crawley-based air charter firm Air Partner plc.

A number of more recent ex-Reds will also be at the game, along with a host of familiar faces from Town Mead and Broadfield Stadium down the years helping to raise money for the newly-formed supporters trust.

Entrance to the not-to-be-missed match is £5 for adults and £2 for children, and there will be a range of sideshows and attractions to make it a real family day out.

There will also be a chance for a Reds fan to play in the Legends team on the day as the Trust are set to auction a place in the team.

Opportunities exist for individuals and companies to sponsor events on the day and the trust are also keen to hear from anyone who can donate auction or raffle prizes.

The trust would also like to hear from all former CTFC players and staff who could either play or join in the fun from the sidelines.

Money raised on the day will help bolster Trust funds as they continue to work to help secure the future of the club, while hosts Oakwood will also benefit with cash going to their club development fund, which goes towards ground improvements at Tinsley Lane. The Trust has always been committed to the involvement of the community and supporting Oakwood in their endeavours is just another example of this.

Trust spokesman Phil Agius said: “This is the first time such a Crawley team has been put together and it should be a great occasion for all Red Devils fans.

“It's a day to forget the current troubles, honour and celebrate the club's proud past and look to a brighter future.

“If anyone has any contact details for former players we could invite along, we'd love to hear from you.”
