25th September - Former Reds to turn out for Trust Legends XI

The Devils Trust are delighted to announce that a host of former Red Devils favourites are set to take their places in the historic Crawley Town Legends squad being assembled for their launch on Sunday October 15.

The Legends team will take on a side representing the Nomad Online Sussex football website at Oakwood FC, Tinsley Lane, Crawley, kicking off at 2pm.

As well as those taking part in the game, which is the centrepiece of the launch day that also features a fundraising auction and an evening disco, players, staff and fans from down the years will be meeting up in the first reunion of its kind.

Trust spokesman Phil Agius said: “We've had a terrific response from Town Mead and Broadfield Stadium favourites who want to be part of what should be an entertaining and historic day.

“As well as the likes of Tony Vessey, Steve Breach and Danny Carroll, we have heard from a number of players from down the years who are unable to play but will be coming along to share in the occasion.

“In Tony Vessey, Billy Smith, Francis Vines, Simon Wormull and Colin Pates, we already have five former managers coming along, and many of the players we have spoken to have said they are really looking forward to seeing their colleagues and the Crawley fans again.”

The Trust would love to hear from more former players, to either play in the team or be their guests for the day. Please contact the trust at thedevilstrust@aol.com or call Phil Agius on 07721 453290 if you can help. You can also make contact via the Devils Trust website at www.thedevilstrust.org.uk

Entrance to the not-to-be-missed match is £5 for adults and £2 for children. Funds raised from the entrance fees, raffles and auction will go to Trust funds, while hosts Oakwood FC will benefit from catering and bar sales, which will help towards ground improvements at Tinsley Lane.

“Everyone at Oakwood has been tremendous and we are looking forward to working with them to put on a great event for all football fans in Crawley,” said Agius.

The trust would also like to hear from any companies or individuals who could donate auction or raffle prizes.
